Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita are the four central texts of yoga knowledge. Jivamukti yoga showers you with knowledge from these ancients manuscripts.
Bhakti
‘Devotion’ or Bhakti is the second tenet of Jivamukti yoga. It is a practice of submission or devotion to the divine. Moreover, the second tenet focuses on humility and down to earth attitude. Thus, the focus is on the discovery of the true meaning of yoga practice.
The devotion is not limited to a particular religion or God. Rather, the focus is to be devoted to some higher divine power larger than your ego. So, it helps you curb your egoistic thoughts and help you become humble and calm.
Ahimsa
Nonviolence is the third tenet of Jivamukti yoga. It teaches your compassion and propagates the idea of love, compassion, and non-harming.
It is one of the Yamas mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Practicing Ahimsa helps you live a yogic life such that you can relate to your surrounding environment. Ahimsa tenet aims to win over your mind.
You learn to develop patience so that you can respond to a particular situation rather than reacting without a second thought.
Nada Yoga
It can also be called Music. It helps you harness deep listening skills. Further, you also practice mantra chanting to use the vibrations of the music to calm your inner being. Quantum physicists believe that everything exists in the form of vibrations at the microscopic level. That is implied in the Nada Yoga tenet of Jivamukti yoga.
You perfect the ability to listen by ceasing the urge the speak or react. Also, the soundless speech of the word ‘Aum’ or “OM” is practiced to raise your vibrations. Inspirational music, mantra chanting, and meditation are used exclusively in the Jivamukti yoga teacher training.
