The practical examination will take you more than a year to study and prepare for, but by practising well in your first and third year, you have basically laid the foundation for a solid study program. Dedicated study time during the USMLE Step 1 is supposed to start two to three years before taking the actual exam, but it really doesn’t matter how long you take. What matters is that you get through all four sets of questions in every exam section as efficiently and accurately as possible.
When is my eligibility criteria?
Assuming you have all four sets of USMLE scores at your disposal, you will need to evaluate your eligibility criteria. Some people will have a better chance than others at passing the exam with only one set of results. For example, if you are a full-time medical student and have taken four years to complete your schooling and study in the US, you have much more leeway with your percentile result.
How will I know if I am eligible?
Assuming you have all four sets of results from the USMLE, your next step will be to contact the department responsible for administering the exam and find out what your score is. Your scores will be computed based on when you applied, what type of med school you attended, and what part of the United States you attended. For example, if you attended a junior college in Texas and took the exam, your percentile score will be based on the junior college you attended. If you were attending a medical school in Massachusetts and took the exam there, your percentile score will be based on your graduate school.
So how do I get my USMLE passing score?
There are several methods available to the examinee that want to get their score. You can go online or call the department responsible for administering the exam to determine your exact score. The higher the number, the easier it will be to get into the USMLE. However, keep in mind that this method can take several months because you will be sending in the same school scores.
What are the two c’s eligibility criteria?
The first is that you must be a full-time student studying for a minimum of 2 years in a medical school accredited with the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CARA). The second is that you must meet the specific minimum financial requirements that are dictated by the exam. All of these requirements will affect how much it cost to take the exam.
How much does it cost to take the USMLE?
Most schools have a set price list that students need to follow to be eligible for admission. Once you have determined your score and your eligibility criteria, you will need to look at all colleges that offer the exam. Many considerations go into setting up a price list for the USMLE Step 1. You will need to include tuition, books, housing and living expenses if you will be attending classes at an on-campus or off-campus medical facility.
How much does it cost to take the USMLE?
If you look at the tuition and living expenses listed by each school on their website, you should be able to estimate how much it will cost to attend classes at each school. If you cannot find this information on the website, you can call each school and ask the admissions representative for the costs that apply to each of their programs. The prices vary from school to school, so make sure to get all the relevant information before making any final decisions.
What is my med school ranking?
Every med school in the US has its own rankings system. All the schools in one ranking system share the same criteria for acceptance and admission. Your scores for each of the USMLE subjects are combined with these criteria to develop your med school ranking. To determine your exact rank, you will need to check all of the websites of all the schools you are considering applying to find out your exact scores.
