    5 Most Common Network Problems

Have you ever been in a situation where your PC is not working, and you can’t figure out why?

It’s frustrating when it happens on your computer, but it’s even more devastating when you’re having trouble on a commercial network.

No matter how hard you work to keep things right and to work, there will be mistakes. Fortunately, you can solve most network problems yourself.

Here are some professional tips for quickly resolving network problems and preventing them from happening again.

    IP exhaustion

This is a very common problem, and we recommend using the config command to solve it. If the workstation was automatically assigned an IP starting with 169.x.x.x, it indicates that the DHCP server has no available IP address.

You have probably run out of available IP addresses, and the simple solution to this problem is to get a router or Wi-Fi access point with a solid integrated router. This will help you build your local address pool, ensuring that you don’t run out of it.

Do you already have a router with DHCP? In this case, the default network address pool can be relatively small. In this case, you can adjust the size of the pool according to your network requirements by accessing the DHCP settings of your router.

    How to avoid this?

It is essential that any network connected to the Internet has a local router operating DHCP and NAT for security purposes and to avoid IP exhaustion. Remember that the router must be the only device connected to the modem so that the rest of your devices can connect through the router.

    Duplicate IP

When multiple devices share a single IP address, you will see an “Address already in use” error. It does not allow you to access the network.

It is usually the router’s default DHCP configuration that causes an error. DHCP is probably trying to allocate an IP address at the beginning of the subnet for the new device, and another computer can occupy those addresses with static addresses.

If you installed a new server or device on your network, it is likely that you have your own DHCP server. Simply disable the DHCP server to resolve the issue.

In addition, you may get a “Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration” error, mainly because you cannot obtain a valid IP from your DHCP server. However, before using any method to correct this valid IP configuration problem, we recommend restarting your PC first.

Sometimes, a simple restart will help resolve most problems related to your network. But if that doesn’t work, you can reset the Winsock protocol with the TCP / IP settings or clear your network cache.

    How to avoid this?

To avoid such issues, you need to modify the local router’s configuration. Also, assign the DHCP addresses near your subnet’s top end. This will leave fewer addresses unused and be ready for devices that require static IP addresses.

    Slow application response

A common problem that many corporate networks face, especially after the device is initialized or connected to the network, is a slow response time. This is a signal of high bandwidth usage.

You should study the time of your team members and/or team to ensure that they are not downloading large files or too much content. Implementing the appropriate network usage can be a great way to maintain Internet usage.

    How to avoid this?

Your employees may be using the network correctly, and the real problem is that you don’t have enough bandwidth to operate your business. If so, consider upgrading your network to suit your business needs correctly.

    Slow Internet Performance

Similar to the previous problem, slow performance is usually due to congestion or poor connections. An overloaded individual port on a router or switch can decrease network performance, so there is no need for congestion to be directly related to depletion.

Use speed test sites that test from geographically remote servers. What this can do is indicate areas of congestion on your ISP’s network. If you have a cable connection, the network is likely to be shared among your neighbors.

    How to avoid this?

If the internet speed and performance is slow and does not satisfy your requirements, you need to improve your connectivity. You can install a leased line connection to fulfill the internet requirements for your business.

    Absence of connectivity

This is yet another common and annoying network problem. Some devices remain indeterminate, even after following common naming rules for domains and computers.

If you still don’t use TCP / IP, especially with the home configuration, we recommend that you do so because of its functionality and features that are definitely unmatched.

    How can I avoid this?

Make sure that all devices are on the same subnet with different IP addresses. This is basic, but make sure the file and printer sharing options are working correctly. In addition, identify network shares on each device. You can proceed with the firewall settings to correct the problem but only proceed if you know what you are doing.

    Final Words

Now, as you know about the most common complaints in networks and their solutions, you can rectify them as soon as they show up. Following the solutions in this post can help you fix these common network problems for your business.
